Opinion Is Labeled

Sections marked “Our opinion,” “OPINION,” or similar are commentary. We label them so you always know when you’re reading our take rather than reported fact.

Scores Are Our Analysis

Accuracy, sourcing and loaded-language scores, Spin Meter readings and “who won” verdicts are our good-faith analysis and opinion, based on the sources we cite. They are not statements of fact about any outlet, journalist or person, and they are not claims that anyone intended to mislead.

Humor

We use sarcasm and jokes. The jokes are ours; the facts are sourced. Humor aimed at coverage is not a factual claim.

Excerpts, Links and Fair Use

We quote short excerpts and headlines and link to original reporting for commentary, criticism and news reporting, which we believe is fair use. All rights to that material stay with its owners. Please read the original sources linked in each post.

No Affiliation

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any news outlet, network or political party we mention.

Accuracy and Corrections

We check claims against at least two sources, but news changes fast and we can make mistakes. If you spot one, see our Corrections Policy.

Advertising

Some content is supported by ads. Advertisers do not influence our scores or opinions.

Not Professional Advice

Nothing on the Site is legal, financial or other professional advice.
