Our Take: Who Spun It, Who Didn’t
Spin Meter: Some Spin
Arlington police: two guys throwing rocks at a Ballston business around 8 p.m. An employee, reportedly a tow truck driver, walks out to stop them. They throw rocks at him, one cuts him with a sharp object, the other blocks him from leaving. Cops catch both within minutes. Charges include malicious wounding by mob. Tow truck drivers have the worst job in America and somehow it got worse on a Wednesday.
Alex Jones’ site reported the police facts correctly, then added a DHS statement that one suspect crossed the border as an unaccompanied minor in 2018, then put “sanctuary county” in the headline like a spice rub. The local outlets ran the same police report and skipped the immigration part. One side only cares where the suspect came from. The other side acts like nobody asked.
Bright spot: the worker’s injuries aren’t life-threatening and both suspects were in cuffs before the rocks stopped rolling.
Only two sides covered this one. We found no left-leaning outlet that reported it, so the left column is empty. We graded what exists.
Left
No left-leaning outlet covered it.
We looked. Nothing. Apparently a stabbing with an immigration angle is a story only one side of the aisle can see.

ARLnow: “ACPD: Suspects stabbed employee, threw rocks at Ballston business”
Took the police report, added the location and the tow-lot detail, hedged “initial reports suggest” where it should. Zero adjectives. It’s like reading a parking ticket. Docked on context, because the DHS detainer was public a day later and never made it in.
Right
Here’s the twist: Alex’s people did actual reporting. They called DHS, got a quote and printed it word for word. Nobody else bothered. Then they wrote “brutal attack” for lacerations the police call non-life-threatening, and stated the suspect is “in the U.S. illegally” as fact when the only source is DHS and an immigration judge had ended his case. Good catch, heavy hand.
The facts, checked
- CONFIRMEDTwo men, 20 and 19, were arrested near N. Quincy St. and 5th Rd. N. on Oct. 14 after an employee who confronted them was cut with a sharp object (ACPD via ARLnow, WJLA).
- CONFIRMEDCharges: malicious wounding by mob, assault and battery and public intoxication for one, malicious wounding by mob and abduction for the other (ARLnow, WJLA).
- CONFIRMEDInjuries were non-life-threatening (ARLnow, WJLA, Alex Jones Live).
- REPORTEDThe victim was a tow truck driver. ARLnow says “initial reports suggest.”
- REPORTEDDHS says one suspect entered illegally as an unaccompanied minor in 2018, that an immigration judge terminated his proceedings in Oct. 2025, and that ICE has a detainer. This is a DHS statement reported only by Alex Jones Live. We couldn’t confirm it independently.
Closest to the truth: ARLnow (center) for accuracy. Alex Jones Live for being the only one with the full picture
Nobody got the facts wrong. ARLnow was the most precise. Alex Jones Live was the only outlet that reported the immigration angle, sourced to a named agency, and then oversold it. With no left-leaning coverage at all, the right gets credit for context this time. Nobody beats anybody on facts.
Satire-free zone: the jokes are ours, the facts are not made up. Grades and “Our Take” are analysis and opinion, not news. Scores follow the facts, not the team jersey.
A pair of suspects, including an illegal alien, have been charged in a brutal attack on a man outside a business in the D.C. area this week, authorities say. The disturbing incident unfolded at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday night in Arlington, Virginia — a sanctuary jurisdiction. The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) responded to […]
